Writer’s Corner

“People say, ‘What advice do you have for people who want to be writers?’ I say, they don’t really need advice, they know they want to be writers, and they’re gonna do it. Those people who know that they really want to do this and are cut out for it, they know it.”

— R.L. Stine

Ah, writing. Where to even begin?

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

It’s 10 pm. There’s a bowl of cereal beside the fluorescent screen of your laptop, which, for reasons unknown, is the only light source in the room. Your fingers move across the keyboard in rhythm with the words scrolling across the screen. Sometimes you pause, exhale as you stare at the screen, ignoring the ticking clock on the wall or your cat meowing for attention somewhere. You open up yet another internet tab, this time to look up a synonym for ‘arduous’. Your better judgement would remind you that you do, in fact, have certain responsibilities, dubbed “adulting,” which will require from you a certain amount of sleep. This is true, but has somehow ceased to be a priority. You pour yourself another cup of coffee as you begin to research medieval baby names. You can survive on four hours of sleep, you tell yourself. Life is good.

If you can relate to the above paragraph, then you’re on the right page. Writing is a strenuous, arduous hobby taken on only by those readers who aren’t satisfied with simply reading stories. A writer must go to whatever end to perfect his or her story, and the mind of a writer holds a thousand worlds–some vague and half-formed, others detailed and intricate. The Writer’s Corner is all things writing-related in one place–from writing tips to character names and plot templates. Whether you’re a veteran author or a rookie in the business, there’s something for you here.
